Mummy’s Massage was founded by Salwa Salim in 2010 and has been the leading postnatal massage company in Singapore. She aim to educate and support women during their transition period from pregnancy to postpartum. Ans she also train practitioners internationally to provide the authentic Malay postnatal care service that is scientifically and medically approved form of massage therapy and postpartum healing.
In 2004, Salwa received a scholarship from National University Hospital Singapore to study Radiotherapy, then furthered her education in Charles Sturt University Australia graduating with Bachelor of Applied Science. In her time as a sonographer and radiographer, she performs ultrasounds and mammograms to detect abnormalities and diseases of the female reproductive systems. Her formal education and work experience in government hospital and private clinics has given her the appreciation and deep understanding of the women’s body.
She attended numerous conferences, trainings and courses over the decade and received many certifications related to health care. She also comes from a lineage of traditional midwives. In a true fashion of ‘East meets West’, Salwa bridges the wisdom from the Malay postpartum traditions to modern perspective, medical understanding and scientific insights. With her medical background, massage training, Malay heritage and ongoing research over the past decade, she has refined Mummy’s Massage program to be genuine, safe and backed by medical understanding.
Her work has received national recognition in Singapore. She is regularly invited to speak/ consult/ advise/ collaborate with Singapore’s museums, universities, National Heritage Board, and birthing related conferences. She has been interviewed on TV and radio, mentioned in publications, referenced in journals and featured in newspapers and magazines.
Salwa has expanded into the international market. She started a training institute in the U.S. training birth workers, midwives and doulas on the postpartum healing, bengkung belly binding and other Malay postpartum traditions.
